Dona Rutowicz, LCSW and Coach

What is your profession?
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (psychotherapist) and coach.

Who are your ideal clients? Who do you heal or help?
I work with women who are currently going through a divorce and women who have been divorced for awhile and who are looking to redefine their paths.

How do you help people?
I bring together a community of women through individual coaching/counseling, group programs, Facebook, “Girls Night Out” events, as well as a yearly healing retreat in Sedona, Arizona. I give women the space to heal, feel loved, grow and be part of a community that “gets them”. Divorce can be so lonely and many women feel left out as their friends are married and being single in your 30’s, 40’s and 50’s is a lot different than being single in your 20’s. My goal is to help 10,000 families avoid the chaos and fighting that comes with divorce saving them tens of thousands of dollars in lawyers fees, saving their emotional stability and helping them transition the children so that the children have a fighting chance at getting through divorce healthy, happy and whole—and yes! It’s totally possible. It’s also important that the children have a positive marriage blueprint so that one day they can have a happy marriage themselves.

What is your typical day like?
My typical day starts at 5:00 am with meditation and relaxation, then 6:00-8:00 am its getting the kids to school, then 8am-4pm work. I see clients Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s and leave Monday’s and Thursday’s to meetings, billing and follow-ups. Then it’s dinner around 6:00pm and family time after. I try not to work in the evenings and leave that solely to spending quality time with my family. I’m usually exhausted by 9:00pm and head off to bed.

What makes your job so much fun?
My job is amazingly fun! I’m so grateful for my job because I get to help people in what might be one of the most difficult times of their lives. I have been through a divorce myself and i would not wish it on my worst enemy. In fact, it’s what projected me into my career as a psychotherapist. I love to see women who come to me broken, and then see these same women transition to totally transformed happy, healthy and peaceful souls ready to take on the world! I get to see them transition from pain to purpose and show them how to grow and nourish meaningful relationships vs. destroy them. And through my programs, I get to be part of an incredible community of such amazing women who inspire ME every single day. It never ceases to amaze me the power of a woman who is on a mission. And I get to work with them every single day. #blessed.

What is your favorite quote?
One of my favorite quotes is the Marianne Williamson quote:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
