It’s almost the end of the year!
As one year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to assess how your marketing is working and make plans for marketing in the New Year. Use the “New Year momentum” to think about how you can get out of your comfort zone and market your way to success.
Here are some tips to get your marketing ready for the New Year:
#1: What did you learn this year?
Take a hard look at your marketing accomplishments over the past year. What worked? What needs tweaking? What would you change all together?
Think about your marketing activities this way: If you could do it again, what would you do differently?
Once you have determined what you can do differently, use this information to shape next year’s marketing plan. It’s all about marketing smarter, not harder.
#2: Send out those holiday cards and gifts
You may be thinking it’s too late to send out holiday cards and gifts, but you still have plenty of time!
If you don’t want to write holiday cards “by hand,” check out the fabulous selection of cards from SendOutCards.com and Postable.com. You can import your mailing addresses into each website, create a personalized holiday card, pay for postage – and within minutes, have your holiday cards sent.
Also, if you have Amazon Prime, you can take advantage of their free two-day shipping to send holiday gifts directly to your recipients (and for a small fee, Amazon can wrap the gift for you).
One more reminder: You can always send “Happy New Year” greetings if you are running behind. Think how nice your clients and sales prospects will feel being remembered as the New Year begins!
#3: Write your marketing plan
A new year is a fresh slate for marketing, and it’s time to capture what you want to accomplish in a marketing plan. Every entrepreneur needs a marketing plan. So, find a day or two before the year ends to write yours.
Your marketing plan is your road map for how you will market your business. Think about what you want to achieve and the marketing tactics you’ll implement to meet your objectives.
At the end of the day, your marketing plan is your document. Write it for you, and don’t stress about section headers, font types and how long it should be.
#4: Take time to refresh
As an entrepreneur, you are the Director of Marketing for your business. But that doesn’t mean you have to work every day. You deserve a break! Take some time off and enjoy the holidays with your friends and family. When you can unplug from your business, your brain will refresh, and you’ll return to work with new ideas and plenty of energy.
Look at your calendar right now. What days will take off for the holidays? Block them off and hold those days as sacred. You’ll be so glad you did!
