Now, let’s get to the second part of the lesson.
Thought leaders are always creating and teaching, but what exactly are thought leaders creating and teaching? What’s the “thought” behind the thought leader?
That’s what we will discuss in this week’s marketing strategy.

A thought leader is a recognized expert in her industry – one whose opinion is respected and sought after. She is an influencer. Because she is so highly regarded in her field, she serves many people and is well compensated for her efforts.
As you can see, expertise, visibility, teaching, and creating are all hallmarks of a thought leader.
But thought leaders do more than these four things: They take it one step further.
Thought leaders express thoughts that shake up the status quo. They rock the boat. Thought leaders may even be controversial.
They just don’t regurgitate the knowledge that’s been taught to them: Thought leaders make this knowledge their own by adding their own uniqueness to it.
Here’s an example:
I am a marketing teacher. I teach purpose-driven entrepreneurs and Lightworkers how to become the Directors of Marketing for their businesses.
Truth be told, many marketing coaches do the same thing.
Here’s my unique twist to this:
You don’t have to sell your soul to market your business. Think of marketing as Divine, and you will see it as a beautiful reflection of you.
This means that those “make $10,000 this month” formulas are not for you. This means that those marketing gurus who make you feel icky are not for you.
It also means that you can embrace marketing as the loving and gorgeous journey that it is. When you do, you will love marketing and its opportunity for authenticity. And your business will grow as a result.
That’s the stand I take for my ideal clients. That’s my “rock the boat” thought that I share with the world. And it’s the foundation for all of my teaching and creation.
Now it’s your turn. What is the “thought” behind your thought leadership?
Here are some questions to help you:
- What are you an expert in (really)? Don’t just look at your credentials. Dig deep here.
- What about your industry drives you crazy?
- What does your ideal client need to hear? What permission can you grant your ideal client?
- How can you confidently rock the boat in your industry? What stand can you make on behalf of your ideal clients?
I recommend meditating first on these questions, and then pulling out your journal to record your thoughts and Divine Downloads.
Finally, I want to give you permission to take these answers and own them. Own your unique thoughts. Own what you want to change for your ideal clients (and the world).
The world needs you and your unique, rock-the-boat thoughts. Don’t be shy. Instead, awaken the Inner Thought Leader and get your Gifts out to the people who need them the most. You can do this; I believe in you.
