Here’s something that I really believe to be true. If you want to attract more clients to your business, you should write a book. I say this from personal experience and from coaching lots of people about this. When you write a book, you have an instant marketing and client attraction tool.
So why is that? Why is a book so powerful in your marketing? Well, there are lots of different reasons. First of all, it’s instant credibility. When you say in your biography or in your elevator speech or even in your webinar, “I’m the author of …”, people really stand up and notice. They think, “Oh wow, this person really knows her stuff. She’s an author.” If you especially get some best-selling status through Amazon, it really rises your credibility. Being credible is an important part of your marketing message and writing a book helps you achieve that.
Hand-in-hand is the second reason why writing a book is so valuable for your marketing, and that is it is a fantastic way to share your expertise. People must know that you know your shit. If they don’t know that, they will never buy from you, so what better way to show that you know what you’re talking about than putting it in a book, even if it’s a thin one like this. It’s an instant way for you to say I know about this and put everything in a book so that people can read it. Then they start to know, like and trust you, and when they trust you that’s when they start to purchase from you. Write a book so that you can share your expertise and pull these ideal clients to you.
The third thing, rather, that I want to share with you about why it’s important to write a book is that for a lot of entrepreneurs, they find that clients want to work with them but they want a low investment price there, that they really want something that doesn’t cost a lot of money for people to learn more about them. Boy, a book can be free up to $15, $10. It’s a very low cost investment for somebody and it’s a great entryway into additional types of products that you can sell. Think of it as a point in your funnel that can lead people down into higher cost, more service type of packages and you start with a book. It’s a great way. It sort of beats down the resistance in a low cost way.
Finally, one thing about a book, it is the best business card in the world. Imagine going to a networking meeting and handing out your book with your business card. Imagine the power that has. One time I went to a conference and I brought my book and I had a bookmark and my business card in it, and I gave it out to people who I felt were my ideal clients or possible referral partners. It was immediately taken in. It was immediately, it had a wow factor and it left a great impression and it started conversations. The best business card in the world is your book.
So I hope this inspires you to think about how you can write a book and how you can use it as a client attraction tool for your business or coaching practice.
