Why I Started A Second Instagram Account

Why I started a second Instagram account by Jill Celeste, www.JillCeleste.comI started a second Instagram account. I am still slightly shocked as I type that sentence.

Why is this shocking?

Because I have always been a proponent of putting all of my online marketing assets in my name – from my website to my Instagram account. Everything is branded “Jill Celeste.”

And then I go and open a second Instagram account under a different name.

Why would I do this?

I outline my rationale in this week’s marketing strategy, and I hope it inspires you to do the following:

  • Give yourself permission to break the rules, even the ones you created
  • Experiment with your marketing (without attachment)
  • Take a stand for your flagship product

That’s what I have learned from this decision so far. As you grow as an entrepreneur, these lessons come in many shapes and forms. And sometimes, they come disguised as second Instagram accounts.

I love to create graphics that enhance the learning in my weekly marketing strategies. Please feel free to share these on your social media!

You have permission to break your own self-imposed rules. - Jill Celeste, www.JillCeleste.com

I have big goals. I want to teach thousands of entrepreneurs how to market authentically. I want to inspire them to take imperfect action and get out of their comfort zones. I want to lovingly welcome them into a like-minded tribe with open arms. I want them to believe in themselves as much I believe in them.

For years, I jostled around with how I can do this. I did marketing challenges, created a marketing academy, and even hosted boot camps. Each one was great, but none of them lit a fire in my belly.

Earlier this year, I came back to an idea I had talked myself out of – starting a membership program. As I brainstormed what it would look like, my heart started to swell and my insides felt all tingly. I called it The Celestial Circle, and I knew I had finally landed on my flagship program. Not only was I relieved, I felt elated. Everything clicked.

Fast forward six months to today, and The Celestial Circle is up and running with wonderful members. I realized, though, that I haven’t done my job to attract more members, so I made a goal for myself: To have 50+ paying members in the Celestial Circle by August 31, 2018.

Once I had the goal, I created a marketing plan on how to achieve it.

And that’s when this thought downloaded in my head: Open a second Instagram account for The Celestial Circle.

I immediately discarded this idea because I am a firm believer in personal branding – with everything branded with my first and last name. It’s my rule!

Well, The Universe kept telling me to break my own rule. I started to visualize what an Instagram account can do for my marketing. I could see it working, connecting with these wonderful ideal clients – people who need The Celestial Circle.

So, I did it. I opened up The Celestial Circle Instagram account, and off I went.

It’s too early to tell if it’s working. In my gut, I know it will work. I am experimenting. I am documenting. I am detaching from the outcome.

As I play, I discovered how to “regram,” and how to cross pollinate between my Jill Celeste Instagram account and The Celestial Circle one. I am finally shining the spotlight on The Celestial Circle, giving it the attention it deserves. It’s out there in the open – no longer “hiding” behind my name.

Why am I sharing this story with you?

I want you to feel empowered, like I did, to break your own rules. As you grow, your “rules” will become outdated. Don’t hold on to them if they no longer fit.

I also want you to play and experiment with your marketing. Nothing is guaranteed in marketing. Marketing experts will tell you there are guarantees, but they’re just trying to get in your wallet. There are no guarantees, okay? So, lean into an experimental mindset and PLAY. Have fun. See what works.

Finally, I hope you’ll take a stand for your flagship product (and your ideal clients) by not hiding your services. Shine light on how you help people. Be proud of your products and services, and yes, fall in love with them. They are the vehicle that allows you to serve.

If that means opening a second Instagram account like I did – or something else you swore you’d never do – then so be it. Your flagship product deserves it – and your ideal clients do too.

I am sending you lots of love as you think about how you can experiment, get out of your comfort zone, and increase your visibility. If I can do it, you can too.

Jill CelesteHi, I’m Jill Celeste. I teach purpose-driven entrepreneurs (just like you) everything you need to know about marketing so you can become the Director of Marketing for your business.

Because when you put your Director of Marketing hat squarely on your head, marketing is your number one priority (which will result in more clients!).

When I am not teaching about marketing, you’ll find me hanging out with my husband or my teenage boys, or taking a nap with my basset hound, Emma. I also like to play with my two guinea pigs and feed the backyard ducks (much to my neighbor’s chagrin).

Thank you Jill for this beautiful blog.
It just reminded me I can and am breaking my own rules.
I used to say it’s not ok to be multi passionate but as I advanced I learnt it is possible and can be done.
    Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your story Jill. I really appreciate the reminder, ” Shine light on how you help people. Be proud of your products and services, and yes, fall in love with them. They are the vehicle that allows you to serve.” I feel inspired and grateful!

I love this for so many reasons. I am someone who frequently examines my own rules and am married to someone who encourages me to “examine your assumptions.” My Instagram account is highly personal — I need to remember to promote the books once in a while. LOL. But…. I especially love that I’m going to get to follow you on another account! Best of luck with your new vneture.

I love that you challenged yourself — and me — to create a secondary Instagram account. How liberating it is to know “the rules” and then break ’em. Thanks, Jill, for being so open and encouraging about your journey.

Excellent move Jill! Many rules, especially self-imposed rules can and will be broken, when we are led to higher ground by the Universe or whatever ‘moves’ us onward and upward. Stepping outside ourselves into a new arena creates growth. Thanks for sharing this inspiring post!
